Have you ever hung out with Christians that made you feel like "if that's what heaven is filled with, I DON'T WANNA GO!!"
Well...I'm guilty of that truly un-Christlike behavior. I've never been comfortable around cracker dry, judgemental, rigid people of any religious denomination. YEEEEEEECH!
Enter the Lees.
Who are they?
Well, I first met Eun Lee, the matriarch of the Lee clan, about 2 years ago in the old church. She needed someone to do a little skit for Promiseland, which is the children's ministry she helps run at Eastern Hills.
I remember that it wasn't a huge part, but I added a small twist to it that she liked. Soon I found myself knee deep in 7 year olds in one really fun ministry!
Did I ever really think I'd like hangin' out with kindergarteners and first graders?? No way.
But....
What a blast! Keeping kids that age interested was a challenge, but man, few things in my life have given me more satisfaction. As a kid, I was buried in Catholic Catechisms, tinder dry memorization, spirit killing stuff.
I hated it.
Couldn't wait to grow up so I could leave it behind me.
Promiseland, set up by Eun and her co-workers, ply the Gospel with truly Amazing Grace, dressing the most holy truth in a coating of fun.....Wow!
Kyu, Eun's husband, helps out as a large group leader with the older kids. He is a great guy, a professor at S.U., who could easily be too busy for this stuff.
Even Eun's kids, Claudia notably, are involved.
What a cool family.
We spent an evening with the Lees afew weeks ago, and were treated to a Korean barbecue....my mouth's still watering...
Eun is recovering from breast cancer, and is due in for reconstructive surgery at the end of the month...Prayers would be appreciated.
I love these people. They are the polar opposite of the folks I spoke of before, the "Cracker-Dries."
They are beautiful, fun filled children of God, and I will gladly spend my life trying to be more like them.
Leaving Eastern Hills is hard to do, mainly because of folks like the Lees that we leave behind.
May the Lord bless them forever.
YOU GET THE POINT!!

I know that you'll still see the wonderful people of Eastern Hills some times! After all, Crossroads is a sister church to EHBC, and, let's face it, sisters just have to see each other from time to time. Life just wouldn't be right if we didn't!
Sure hope so...maybe Saturday night..
Excuse me while I throw up...there I feel much better
Nice Deb....verrrrry nice ..
Actually, I threw up too. But your overly pukey post was only partially why.
I need a new family...
I think that was pretty witty Steph! Maybe I need another baby...:) Just kidding!
:) Thanks. I am throwing up less, actually. Now I just seem to be eating like a maniac all the time. I'm going to double my body weight by the time this is all over.
