WEll...
I may have made a tactical error last night..
Not the first I ever made, of course, and almost certainly not the last...
But.
Just for fun I used my youngest daughters signature to send a kind of silly, flattering comment to my middle daughter's blog. No harm intended, but, oooh boy...the gesture was not loved by all.
So, here goes:
SORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY!!!!!!
There....All better.
I won't be doing that again anytime soon. Ya'd think they'd have a sense of humor by now!!!
Anyways, we had a nice family visit here yesterday. Jess and the kids came early, and Jeremy joined us for dinner. He always has the good heart to call ahead to ask if he can pick up anything from the store. I really appreciate that thoughtfulness.
My daughters have done okay for themselves, husband-wise.
I think.
The time with the grandkids is the best. Yesterday, while they were in the tree fort and I was roaming the woods on the lookout for monsters, I was attacked by aliens, who somehow transformed me into a savage, drooling kid eating troll.
Luckily, the troll couldn't climb very well, and the effect was temporary, so the kids made it in one piece to dinner.
Boy, though, that was a close one!
I'm guessing that I wouldn't be too hungry for the southern fried chicken if I had eaten Josh and Jakie!
Anyways, a grand time was had by all, pretty much...'til the dumb comment thing.
Oh well...
Y'know, I had always heard that being a grandfather was a lot of fun, but, honestly, never really looked forward to it. For one thing, you have to be really old to be one!
But it's worth it. Trading youth and lower body weight for this kind of cool fun is a bargain. These grandkids, present and not as present in Charlotte, fill me with a life and fun that I couldn't fully enjoy with my own kids...not enough time. Too much pressure, too many jobs, blah blah blah...too dumb, really, to take the time to enjoy their growing up.
Wish I could do it all over...some definite changes would be made...
But, thankfully the kids made it to Christian adulthood okay anyways, despite our failings as parents.
And their kids will too. For sure...
Okay then.
Onward and upward.....tomorrow we'll talk about.......ISSUES!!!!!!
Til then:
YOU GET THE POINT!

The comment thing was kind of funny. I didn't have a problem with it. It sounds like you guys had TONS of fun yesterday! My boys can't wait to get into that tree house!!
It'll be ready and waiting!

Aaww, all is forgiven. You are the best Grandpa on earth, so I can put up with some complete lack of common sense from time to time. Love ya!!
Aw, admit it, you just always did want boys, dad! Beck was probably the closest, being a heck of a tomboy until adolescence, but Jess and I must have seemed like quite the mystery. And yeah, I think you were too busy, what with your three jobs at one point and all the stress that went with them, to hang out too much with me and mom when I was little. But we never went without a roof over our head and food to munch on, and mom is pretty amusing company, so it all worked out great in the end. It's really nice to read about your time w/the boys now, though, dad. You've got a knack, I tell you. Love, Steph
Thanks guys. I'll try to be more sensible in the future....
