Hey Kids!!! How to win in Scrabble

Cheat!!

No, just kidding!! Really. Always keep a dictionary handy, just in case.

In case of what, you ask? Well, in case someone uses a word like "privis" to clinch the win.

Privis, you say? What means this privis?

Well, it is the plural of "privy", the term used for a bathroom if you're in, say, England or Wales.

Okay...

Maybe the word is a l'il stretch. But, I really would have won anyway, just by a slightly smaller margin. It was a really good game, with many scores above 40...Whoa!!!

Life is good. Even for us weak, impatient Racas who hate to stand in line or get flipped off when innocent of wrongdoing...

Love you guys!!!

EEEEEEYUCK!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.

All right.

I know that weather reports won't keep anyone out there excited for long. But, I gotta say that we bad weather gods have done it again!!!

We are in Marion County, Florida, middle of drought, sun capitol of the universe.

According to the weather man this morning, it is the only county in all of Florida to be under a frost watch. It's 46 now, and windy, with gray skies, and................................. IT SUCKS.

Okay. Moving on. No mo' weather complaints.

Hey! These folks down here are making me appreciate how little is the racism up north! The things people say around here about blacks, would cause a lynching in New York. Just yesterday, a guy I didn't even know told me about a car accident he was in, and that blacks were in the other car, and the cop whoshowed up was black, and he got a ticket, for sure because of the bad ol' blacks...although he used a different epithet to describe them. I was warned about this when I first got here. It's weird, but now when I see blacks in the store or on the street, I want to be really nice, I feel bad for them here. Weird.

Also, Floridum drivers are very agressive. Stupidly so. A really grossly fat man, old besides, with his elephantine wife, rushed up to my back bumper with ill intent after I drove into traffic in front of him. Honestly, it was a safe move, he was at least 100 yards behind me, but, he still had to tailgate me until I made my turn, and both he and his ancient wrinkly gargantuan woman flipped me the bird as they passed...yesterday we were in a line of cars approaching a point that the left lane ended..I was in the slow right lane for 10 minutes, crawling along, watching the cheaters fly by in the soon to end left lane..I even let a couple squeeze in ahead of me...until I was at the end of the merging point, and some jerk flew in out of nowhere, and, without even looking cut in front of me into my lane...Whoa!! If I didn't hit the brakes, I woulda hit him for sure. To my immense credit, I didn't chase him down to kill him, or even flip him off...just hit the horn. Hard.

Oh well. We're not in Kansas anymore. And, the weatherman promises sweet weather from Friday on.

See ya's all!

Hello y'all!!

How is ya??

We be fine here. Today is Wally World Day. It's cloudy, with rain in the forecast, so we have compiled a list of needs and kinda needs and will head out to a BRAND NEW STATE OF THE ART WALMART LOCATED IN BEEYAYOUTEEFULL DOWNTOWN OCALA...

Well...maybe not exactly beautiful. In fact, if you want to know, the part of Ocala we've already seen loks like a kind of endless strip mall..miles of kmarts, walmart, eateries, gas stations, etc. etc. ...Not too gorgeous.

But.......and this Butt rivals Roseanne Barr's monumental wobbler, if you need just about anything, Ocala's your ticket!!

And, today we need a lot o' stuff. I broke my toothbrush th eother day...that's right, broke it, snapped it right in two while brushing, which means that:
1. I have been lifting too many weights lately.
Or,
2. I need to stop buying all for a dollar toothbrushes.

I prefer to think it's one.

So, sad as it may seem, the l'il man in me is actually excited to go to Wally World. We always take our time going through the massive place. We always buy fresh cooked chicken wings for lunch, and I usually buy myself some cheap under 10 buck thing for myself...usually another pair of sunglasses.....can't have too many sunglasses, specially here in sunny florida!!!!

Hee Hee..

So, we all gots ta git.

Luvy'all big time!!!

Daytona? Almost...

Well....

Hi. Another day here in Paridisio...took a trip to Daytona Beach yesterday to spend a few precious moments near the ocean..almost made it, turned the other way, and instead headed down the Atlantic Coast. When we got a chance to stop, we let the mutts out to check out the ocean. They are a riot! They both are really funny about water...they love lakes, but the rolling surf scares them some...Shiner especially didn't seem to know how to handle that "water that chases"...he's the male, only 10 months old and already over 100 pounds..whatta dog...tongue like a huge washcloth...always trying to bathe you with it..

Anyways, we were on the road almost 5 hours! Long little trip, for sure. But, the Debster needed to get out. I treated us both to "chicken toughies" for lunch, not exactly what we had earlier planned. Those are chicken tenders that have gently aged for perhaps, 3 hours or so, rendering them delectibly inedible. Eccch.
Oh well..by the time we got them , I was near death from starvation, and was ready to eat one of the many strange trees that grow here. So, we ate 'em.

We're better now. Ribs in the crockpot last night, and ham 'n eggs this morning have cleansed our collective palates.

Anyways, it's a little cloudy today, so I'll be prackissin singin for sundee school..and readin 'n fixin stuff like the phone will soon have an answering service so's y'all kin leave a message if'n ya kin thinks a one..

Love you guys!!!!

Tagged and Bagged

Again....

That durn middle daughter of mine has tagged me once again. This time I have to come up with 5 places I'd like to see, and 5 places I'd like to re-see, as it were...

Okay...been thinkin'...here goes:

Like to sees=

1. Sydney, Australia....gorgeous beaches, beautiful Opera House, folks with cool accents...
2. Greece.....gorgeous beaches, cool hills, sweet ocean...
3. Brazil....gorgeous beaches, amazing oceanfront, beautiful people..
4. Hawaii...gorgeous beaches, black sand, Hawiians...
5. Egypt...gorgeous sand dunes, cool pyramids, blue skies...

Wanna See Agains=

1.Isle De Mujeres...gorgeous beach, white sand, cheap food...
2.Puerto Adventuras...gorgeous beaches, white sands, free drinks...
3.Playa Del Carmon...gorgeous beach, cheap cold beer, friendly people
4.Escaret.....incredible snorkling aquarium, cool tube river, free food
5.Red Rock Canyon...majestic, holy, cathedral like serenity, surrounded by incredible deep blue sky, and wrapped in sheer red rock...

So, there you go, Bean....quite a variety, wouldn't you say?

This will have to cover for tomorrow also...we'll be heading out to Daytona Beach to experience...hmmm..guess!

GOOD MORNIN' UNIVERSE!!

HEY Y'ALL.....

Mama's bored. So, papa must jump.

We have been married for 35 years, and we are as different as ham and eggs. Not that ham and eggs don't go together pretty well...in fact we may have that for breakfast today...

But, here's the thing.

I'm a guy in his mid 50's, relaxed, finally, and am happy with the sun, swimming, book reading, bike riding, dog walking, Jesus lovin' life I'm living down here.

Deb is a woman in her early 50's who seems to not be able to sit in one place for more than 30 minutes without wanting, oh, I don't know, something else!!

So, tomorrow we will drive four hours to go to Daytona Beach and see the ocean. And in a couple of weeks, we'll drive four hours to see the space shuttle pop into the sky from Cape Used To Be Called Kennedy Now It's Canaveral Again I Don't Know Why Don't Ask....
We'll pay 76 bucks for the 60 second thrill, plus 50 more for the gas...

And, we coulda seen it better on tv!!!

Okay, you say...I have no sense of adventure, you say...and

YOU'RE RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There it is...I'm a sun potatoe, happy to fry...A dud spud, not a greater potater..

So there.

Happy Birthday Jessica!!!!

HOLY SMOKES...SHE'S 30!!!!!

Today my baby girl hit the big 30. Wow. I used to think that 30 was old, and now my youngest kid's that old! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!

So, that makes me and the Debster, what? Super-old? Ancient? Relics of a past gone by, of a generation extinct?????

Wow. Reality bites.....hard!!

But, actually, this blog should be a little more about my baby girl than our elderly withering away. So, here goes:

Jessica, my youngest daughter, turns 30 today. This means that, for 30 years already, we've been blessed by a beautiful, caring, sensitive, talented, loving child. Of my 3 wonderful girls, only she has chosen to stay near us. This has afforded us the opportunity to lead worship in our church together, and has given us the treasure of enabling us to watch her family blossom and grow...almost day to day...an opportunity I never had with my own kids, having been at work so much of the time.
Jessie has the most amazing giving heart...I have watched her give up her own desires over and over again, simply to best serve her family.
If I had to change anything at all about this sweet child, it would be to lift her up from the all too common low self esteem syndrome suffered by nearly every woman I ever knew.
We love ya big time, girl.

Hey, we've got a few prayer requests today....

For Jessie's family, down with the flu, may they heal quickly and celebrate their momma's and wife's birthday properly!!
For John Frantz's daughter, injured in a skiing accident...may the Lord heal her quickly and completely, as only He can.
For Joy Binder, awesome friend and athlete, in great pain from a spinal operation, may the Lord touch her gently, soothe her pain, give her back her mobility...

In His Name I pray....

Shortie!

It's a beautiful morning, sunny, about 60 already... gonna hit 80!!

So, I won't spend too much time blogging today!

It's great to have a real phone. The other night we watched Lost on the telly, and Jess and I shared it on the phone..it's a tradition we started with the Amazing Race a long time ago, and since then we've added Survivor and Lost...which, unfortunately come on at the same freakin' time, and what's up with that???!!

We only watch about 4 shows a week, and now 2 are on at the same time...we got no tivo!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!

Oh well...We still got our 4400 dvds and house dvds we're getting through.
4400 is the new fave...House tends to get a little teeny predictable after a few episodes...Someone's sick, they guess wrong, try the wrong stuff, they go into cardiac arrest, they are revived, they develop weird sores, they have bubonic plague, or a terribly rare reaction to a radish, or some other nearly impossible variable that House miraculously instinctly knows. House himself is hated by most, and if he were not such a fave in the eyes of the writers, he'd have been fired by episode 3...

Oh well...at least the acting is pretty good, and Cameron is truly fine..

Worth watching.

Okay, end with poem, today a Highkool:

when the sun is out
and I am not out with it
something is not right

See y'all!!!

YIPPEE!!!

WE GOT IT!!!

Our very own phone and internet connection, that is!
So what, you may say. Big deal, you may think.

Well, it is!!

Sad as it may be, it really is a pain in the butt to have to drive 10 miles to make a dependable phone call. And, once you're used to a decent internet connection, a slow, undependable one is like chineese water torture!!

Anyways, the daily blog is back. I'll do my best to keep up with it, although not to a degree that my middle daughter does...no picture show, or music, nothing too fancy....maybe a poem once in a while.

The weather report will be kept up. It is why we are here. Not for adventure, not me anyways..Deb a bit more.
I am simply escaping 120 inches of miserable snow...had enough for a dozen lifetimes already!!!

The weather has actually been cooler here than usual lately. Mornings around 40 degrees, and have had some rain. But, the sun shows up every day, sooner or later. And no snow in sight!

We've connected with the preacher and family. I'll start leading worship this Sunday. Can you believe that?? Here two weeks, and God is using me already. Worth the price of admission all by itself. This park is clean and very friendly.

Gas prices around here are nothing to brag about. Around 3 bucks for regular, 3.25 for diesel. About a quarter a gallon less than NY. No biggie.
We're already thinking about next year...may be coming back again.

Food costs are close to the same as NY. Don't know about electricity, it's included in the rent.

We're loving all the pics that Jess and Becky are putting on their blogs. Please keep it up...as we see stuff worth cataloging, we'll snap a few..so far, no gators...

Okay, we'll be sending out personal info to y'all shortly.

Love and miss all you guys!!

HAPPY HEY Y'ALL WASSUP WID YA, HUH??

HELLO AGAIN.....

Here's a little more news from Happyland,

The land of nearly endless sunshine, Bible Belt Sunday meetins, and all around good times.

The Debster says that any minute now I will be getting bored. All this gentle breeze, getting tan, bike riding dog running Wally World hitting days will suddenly and finally take their toll on my hungry psyche, and I'll crack like Humpty Dumpty.

When I retired from the Fire Department after 31 years, I was told that I'd soon be getting bored and depressed. I'd really miss the job. Well, It's been 4 years and counting, and I STILL LOVE RETIREMENT!!

It may be that I'm a naturally lazy person. Painful as that might be if true, I just don't have the energy to fight the idea. Know thyselves, children, and take the first step to wisdom....or something like that..

Anyways, I am loving the days here...the raw, open faced love for Jesus that our lady preacher Donna shows each Sunday..I think I'm almost ready for a real, old fashioned revival...maybe...hmmmm..

The dogs also seem to like it here. They get to swim now, down at the dog beach, and you should see Shiner, bouncing through the water like "Nessie".
Wow, can he swim!

We do miss you guys. And, I miss Awana, the kids, and the worship at Crossroads. I miss my Friday morning friends at the Y. One of the sweeter thoughts I have is to have a home to return to, where we have such things waiting for us.

In a couple of days, we'll have our own phone, and will be able to blog in our own little rv. This computer travel is not a great inconvenience, but driving 10 miles to use the phone really is.

In His own way, Our Lord is showing us that there is a whole world out here, perhaps waiting for somebody, anybody who is willing to be useful for Him....Someone ready to have his life poured out, a libation in His Name.

I love you guys!

Father, Jesus, help me be
Daily what you want of me
Give me vision, see to know
All the ways that I can show
Of my love for your Heart
Holy Spirit, work of art
Above all things man e're could be

Father, Jesus, help me be

HI ALL!!!!

How are things with you??

We are down here in sunny florida, basking some, walking some, biking some, wally worlding some, reading some, swimming some, tanning some, praying some, fixing some, missing you a lot...

And meeting new people, just about every day. The Lord is blessing almost every turn, sometimes just putting folks in reach that may need some little thing or other...our next door neighbor is in a wheelchair, and we've done some small stuff for them...so wonderful to be so accessible...!

Anyways, we try to do a little of something new each day. Yesterday we tried to find a place to actually witnesds the flight of the space shuttle, but we didn't see a darn thing!! For all I know, we were facing the wrong direction!

Oh well...

Somehow my debit card has been compromised, so I'll be scrambling some to recover..lots of auto payments made each month may need to be changed...

OH BOTHER...

Thanks, Winnie. Glad you sympathise..

Next week, we're having the folks hook us up for fast internet, and a real phone! So, we'll be accessible, starting next thursday afternoon.....mark your calendars!

I'm signing off for now. We really do miss all you guys, love y'all huge!

WE MADE IT!!!!

WE'RE IN

sunny Florida....and, it really has been sunny...go figure!!

Anyways, we're already in a pretty doable routine...up, quiet time, walk-run the dogs, eat, jump on bike, go to pool, set in ,sun, read, swim, read, bake, go back, walk dog, ...repeat all 3 times...!

Tough job, but we're up for it!

We did church here last Sunday, and we're treated to our first female preacher. I didn't know what to expect, but this lady really did love the Lord. No doubt. I'll blog about her ministry later. She was pretty amazing.

One of our highlights so far has been the Mardi Gras. Happened the day after we got here. See pics above!!
Anyways....we'll survive....miss you all!
